- Sudden weakness, facial drooping, or difficulty speaking
- Severe head trauma
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- High fever in a very young infant
- Serious motor-vehicle accidents or major trauma
If in doubt and the situation seems serious or life-threatening, err on the side of the ER.
Q&A: Urgent Care at Suncoast Family Urgent Care & Wellness Center
Q: Do I need an appointment for urgent care?
A: No appointment is necessary. Our urgent care is designed for walk-in visits. You can call ahead if you’d like an idea of current wait times, but it isn’t required.
Q: How long will I have to wait?
A: Wait times vary depending on how many patients are being seen and the severity of their conditions. However, urgent care typically offers much shorter waits than a hospital emergency room.
Q: Can you refill my regular medications?
A: For urgent needs, we may provide short-term refills in appropriate situations, but long-term medication management is best handled through our family medicine providers during scheduled visits.
Q: Do you accept my insurance?
A: We work with many insurance plans. Call our office, and our staff will be happy to help you verify coverage and discuss any co-pays or out-of-pocket costs.
Q: What if I don’t have insurance?
A: We can discuss self-pay options and will always be upfront about pricing. Your health is important, and we’ll work with you as best we can.
Q: Will you share my visit notes with my primary care provider?
A: Yes, if you give permission, we can share records with your other providers to keep your care coordinated and connected.
